Once upon a time, in the charming Norman town of Cefalù, stood Palazzo Botta, home to the brave Botta family. In 1856, siblings Nicola, Carlo, Elisabetta, and Giuseppina, guided by their wise mother Concetta, led a daring revolt against the Bourbon rule. The sisters sewed a tricolour flag, which they raised proudly as Nicola and Carlo fought alongside fellow patriots to free the courageous Salvatore Spinuzza.
Though the uprising was crushed, the brothers endured imprisonment until Garibaldi’s arrival, when they returned as heroes. Nicola became Cefalù’s only deputy, and Carlo its beloved mayor.
Today, Palazzo Botta welcomes visitors to experience its rich history. Staying here means living among centuries-old walls where freedom was once dreamed, just steps from Cefalù’s
stunning beaches.
